Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of LumenWrite (the website at lumenwrite.ai and its services). By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use LumenWrite.

1. The service

LumenWrite humanizes text you provide so it reads more naturally, suggests alternative sentences, and estimates how likely text is to be flagged as AI-written. Results come from machine-learning models: they can contain errors, change meaning, and differ between runs. Always review output before you use it.

2. Your account

• You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you need permission from a parent or guardian.
• Give a real email address and keep your password private. You are responsible for activity on your account.
• One person per account. Don't share, sell or transfer accounts.
• Tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else is using your account.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• break any law, or the rules of your school, employer or publisher, by using the service or its output;
• submit text you don't have the right to use, or content that is illegal, harassing or infringes others' rights;
• use the service for spam, fraud, impersonation, disinformation or to mislead people in harmful ways;
• get around plan limits, create accounts in bulk, or access the service with bots or scrapers;
• probe, overload or attack the service, or try to copy or reverse engineer our models.

Academic and professional integrity is your responsibility. Many schools and workplaces restrict AI-assisted writing. Check the rules that apply to you before you submit work produced with LumenWrite.

4. Your content

You keep ownership of the text you submit and of the output we return to you. You give us permission to store and process that text to provide the service to you, and as described in our Privacy Policy, including to improve our models unless you opt out.

5. No guarantees about detection

Detection scores are estimates from our own models and can be wrong. We don't promise that output will pass any particular third-party detector, grader or review process.

6. Plans, payments and cancellation

• The Free plan costs nothing. Paid plans are billed monthly in advance and renew automatically until cancelled.
• You can cancel any time from the Billing page. You keep your plan until the end of the period you paid for.
• Payments are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise. If something went wrong with a charge, email [email protected] and we'll look into it.
• We may change prices or plan limits. Price changes apply from your next billing period, with notice in advance.

7. Suspension and termination

You can delete your account at any time from the Account page. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put the service or other users at risk. Where reasonable, we'll tell you why.

8. Availability

We work to keep LumenWrite running, but the service is provided "as is" and "as available". We may change, pause or discontinue features, and there may be downtime for maintenance or reasons outside our control.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, LumenWrite is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, lost data, or consequences of how you use output (including academic or employment consequences). Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For significant changes we'll give notice by email or in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use LumenWrite after that means you accept the new terms.
